As a Brock University PhD candidate, I hope to gain knowledge and experience researching Early Childhood Educations issues and interests. At this time, I am interested in how young children acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes towards mathematics through play and how they communicate their understanding of concepts through play. For example, How might young children learn and demonstrate spatial reasoning? How might young children make meaning of the structure compare and contrast to clarify their thinking? How might the young child's thinking be provoked through materials and prompts to support their on-going conceptual understandings of mathematics while playing?
